Where is Nuvana available?
We currently provide services for Iowa and Vermont but we’re constantly looking to expand and add more locations.
Who are Nuvana’s providers?
Our team consists of licensed medical professionals with experience in family health, women’s health, and weight loss.
Appointments & Consultations
How do I book an appointment?
It’s easy! Just click HERE, select the service you need, choose a time, and fill out the intake forms. You will receive an email with a link to get onto the appointment during your appointment time.
How long does a virtual consultation last?
Most appointments last about 15-30 minutes, depending on your needs and medical history.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
You can reschedule or cancel your appointment, but we ask for at least 24 hours’ notice please!
What happens during my consultation?
Your provider will review your medical history, discuss your symptoms or goals, and recommend a treatment plan that works for you and fits your wants and needs.
Can I request a specific medication?
Absolutely! While medication can never be guaranteed because it’s based on your medical evaluation, our goal is to create a treatment plan for you that aligns with your goals.
Medication and Prescriptions
Where will my prescription be sent?
We will send prescriptions to your preferred local pharmacy or directly to our partner compounding pharmacies.
What if my pharmacy doesn’t have my medication in stock?
If your pharmacy is out of stock, you can ask them to order it, or we can send your prescription to a different pharmacy upon request.
How long does it take to get my prescription?
If sent locally, this depends on your pharmacy’s processing time and whether your medication requires prior authorization. We aim to send prior authorization within 1-2 business days of receipt. Compounded medication is expected to arrive to your home in 5-7 days- but often will arrive sooner!
Can I get a refill without another consultation?
Some medications require follow-ups before refills, depending on your treatment plan. If a refill is needed, simply schedule a quick follow-up visit. Your provider will discuss follow up plans with you.
Are there side effects with the medications you prescribe?
All medications come with potential side effects, but we do our best to help you manage any that come your way. Your provider will discuss any risks before prescribing, and you should always read the medication’s instructions and warnings.
Insurance & Payment
Does Nuvana accept insurance for consultations?
No, our memberships are self-pay only, but you can use insurance to fill prescriptions at your pharmacy if you have prescription coverage.
What if my insurance doesn’t cover the medication?
If your insurance doesn’t cover your medication, you have options. Some medications can be purchased through our compounding pharmacies at a much lower price than commercially available. You also have the option of paying out of pocket at your local pharmacy or using discount coupons when available. Your provider will help guide you on your best options.
What payment methods does Nuvana accept?
We accept all major debit and credit cards. We’re also excited to offer Vagaro Pay Later- this splits payment into four interest-free installments over a six-week period.
What is your refund policy?
Due to the nature of our services and medication provided, Nuvana has a strict no-refund policy. Medications are custom made just for you and cannot be returned to the pharmacy once they have been compounded and shipped, even if you have a reaction or are unhappy with your results. If you notice a problem with your medication, please let us know immediately so we can contact the pharmacy. Nuvana does not dispense any medication, we outsource this to compounding pharmacies. The only refund exception is if you do not qualify for medication, see below.
What if I’m not eligible for a prescription?
If you don’t qualify for a prescription, you’ll be charged for one month of membership to cover your visit fee, but any additional pre-purchased months of membership will be refunded.
